OOTD: Olive & Khaki

This week I'm in Wildwood on vacation so get ready for a bunch of posts to be coming your way! I will be taking a whole lot of OOTD pictures for you all. My one rule for vacation dressing, be comfortable but put together. I hardly ever wear jewelry while I'm away because sunblock can ruin metals and you will get awkward tan lines (in my case sunburn).

For my first day, I just wanted something easy to walk around in. We headed to the shopping mall for a couple of hours and were lucky enough to find a Marketplace full of crafters and local businesses. We also stopped at the local bookshop and information center.

Beach Bag Must Haves 2016!

Summer has officially arrived and everyone is headed to the beach! The scorching sun is no doubt a huge help in packing the beach full of families looking for some fun and college students ready to work on their tans! No matter if you are taking a day trip or are on vacation, your beach bag needs to be stocked with the essentials. I have a beach bag checklist to ensure that you are going to have a fun and safe time!

1. Sunscreen and Chapstick- Keeping your skin protected should be number one priority when spending hours outside in the sun's rays. I personally use three different types of sunscreen throughout the day.
My favorites are... Coppertone Oil Free Faces SPF 30, Banana Boat Protect & Hydrate SPF 50, and Banana Boat Regular SPF 50. I also make sure to reapply chapstick with an SPF in it because sunburnt lips are awful! Remember they are part of your skin too!

2. Big Hat- Another great way to keep your face, neck, and sometimes shoulders out of the sun. Plus it looks super cute!

3. Sunglasses- All this talk of protecting our skin, what about your eyes? Don't forget to bring a lens cleaner because I can guarantee they will end up covered in sunblock and sand!

4. Hair ties/clips and a Brush- Now that my hair has gotten longer, I carry extra hair ties with me everywhere. If you are headed into the Ocean, tie up your hair. It will be much easier to brush out and wash later. I also carry a brush for those windy days on the beach. We have all been there where your hair looks like a birds nest due to the wind.

5. Water and Snacks- What good is a trip to the beach if you end up dehydrated? Bring a large water bottle that you semi-froze over night and it will stay cold for most of your time on the sand. Small snacks such as Goldfish, fruit snacks, and grapes are perfect beach food.

6. Magazine or Book- Being at the beach isn't always about building sandcastles and swimming, for the most part it's about relaxing. This is where a great book or magazine comes in handy.

7. Ear Buds and Phone- I always bring my phone and ear buds with me in a ziplock or water proof bag. This is for the occasions when you have very annoying beach neighbors or you want to tune your kids out and get a break!

8. Beach Bag and Towel- A huge bag is key to throw everything in and go but you can't forget a small wristlet or, like me, a travel makeup bag for the smaller items. I love picking out a bright colored towel to take with me every year. These are items that allow you to show your personality at the beach.

Safety Tips: In my family every year we try to use the same beach bags and similar color towels to help us locate where our "camp" is for the day. Another great tips is to make sure your children know what your umbrella and chairs look like so they can spot them from the ocean. Teach your children to look at lifeguard stand numbers next to where you have set up for the day in case they get lost or hurt.

Enjoy the summer down the shore!

Mommy & Me

Mommy & Me style has boomed in the past few years due to fashion influenced celebrities having more and more babies! You and your child, or children, matching doesn't always mean wearing the exact same items of clothing. It can mean all of you wearing the same colors or type of garment. Below I've put together a few of my favorite Mommy & Me looks!

Summer Denim: Keep it cool in denim dresses. Great for a mommy/daughter day out or for a picnic! Two different styles to reflect your own personalities.

Mom

Daughter

Orange You Glad: Matching within the same color scheme but totally different patterns! By both wearing orange tops and similar jeweled shoes there is doubt that you two are twinning!

Mom

Daughter

A Family Affair: Whether you have a boy, girl, or both you can all match in similar colored strips and jeans!

Mom

Daughter

Son

I would love to see some pictures of you and your little ones matching! Tag me on Facebook and Instagram or post a picture in the comments below!

Pantone's Spring/Summer Colors 2016

Pantone is the leading manufacturer of colors, color pallets, and trend reports in the fashion industry. Every season they release a Trend report on what will be "hot" this coming season. Since it seems like the summer weather is here to stay, I decided to share some of the color combinations with you with the hopes of it giving you wardrobe inspiration.

The Pantone Colors of the year are Rose Quartz and Serenity. This is the first year that they have picked two colors. These colors have been seen everywhere so far this season; on the runway, in retailers, even on your favorite web pages.

Add some stronger pastels to these and you have your Spring wardrobe colors!

Summer doesn't have to revolve around pastels. Think brights!

Most of these colors you can mix and match. I would recommend only trying to wear two at a time if you are starting out, but have fun. That is what Summer and fashion is all about.

Here are some fun color pairings to try:

1.

2.

3.

4.

Look forward to seeing some outfits I have put together with these colors.

Fashion Friday- Summer Casual

Summer is a time to relax and have fun with your friends and family. Below is my everyday look in the summer: simple t-shirt or tank and a pair of shorts. These pieces are so easy to put on and I feel put together even if I'm in a hurry.

The key to pulling off this look, and not seem as if you rolled out of bed, is a well made t-shirt and shorts that fit you till about mid thigh. Anything shorter will look sloppy. Same goes for the shoes, rubber flip flops are not going to pull the look together; however, an embellished flip flop or sandal would.

Tuesday- Steal her Look: Candice Swanepoel

Candice's everyday style is very classic and laid back. Plus, she always looks put together. Considering she's a model, would we expect anything less? I love how she is only using basics in neutral colors to create this look. Because all of these pieces are basics, the look can be transformed from a day look to a night look with just a switch of accessories. This style of skirt looks good on every body type and you can change the shirt to something a little looser if you are wanting to hide something.

Fashion Friday- Spring 2015 Clothing Haul

When the weather started to get warmer I realized something, I have nothing to wear! Alright, that might be a bit dramatic. Sure, I have lots of clothes; however, they are all basics. I was looking in my closet and did not see any eye catching pieces. Over the past couple of weeks I have been picking up clothing that I can wear through Spring and Summer. I went to H&M and Old Navy to browse their racks and came away with some great pieces.

From H&M, I purchased two sleeveless button downs in a sheer fabric, a sleeveless floral print crop top with crochet at the bottom, a white short sleeve eyelet crop top, and a white skater skirt.

At Old Navy, I purchased a navy print skirt that can be worn at your natural waist or hips, a pair of the Rockstar super stretch skinny jeans (which are the comfiest jeans I've ever worn), and a mint print sleeveless v-neck shirt.

When I was looking through all the clothing I tried to think of what outfits I could make from what I already owned and within my new purchases. I think I have a few cute outfits and I can't wait to wear them throughout the coming months.

Tuesday- Steal Her Look: Rosie & Kate

After seeing pictures of Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Kate Bosworth in the Coach Tent at Coachella, I was obsessed. They both looked so chic and radiant. I love how they both pair white shirts with fun mini skirts. I think it's a classic look that can be played around with!

I love how they both pair white shirts with fun mini skirts. I think it's a classic look that can be played around with! As long as your base is the same, white shirt and a mini skirt, you can add so many different accessories to change up the outfit.
