It's Beginning to look like Christmas...

A very late post from me today but I had to wait for the annual Bristol Borough Tree lighting before I could post! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Now it's time for my favorite holiday, CHRISTMAS! I always get excited to see Christmas decorations and lights! Below are a few pictures from tonight. Our town tree is across from the Wharf on the river in town.

What I Wore Wednesday- Vendor Blender

This past Saturday I stopped by my old high school to help out with the Drama Club's Vendor Blender. I had a lot of fun and saw some old teachers and friends. It has gotten quite cold here on the East coast so while I opted for a jacket, I was actually freezing still. I did add my big winter coat over this outfit later in the day!

Media Monday- AMAs 2014

Last night was the American Music Awards, AMAs, and lots of music and film celebs showed up to present or receive awards. I have to admit I was not to thrilled with the fashion that was on the red carpet. I expected more from the stars but I guess they are saving the show stopping dresses and suits for the Grammys. Having said this, there are a few looks that I enjoyed.

I am a gown kind of girl. I think they are fun to wear. You don't get to wear a gown everyday so I say when you get the chance, take it!

Surprise Make-up Haul!

This past weekend I took a normal trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few Christmas items (you will be seeing them soon) and ended up in the Make-up isles. I know I have mentioned before that I'm not a big make-up person but I couldn't resist making a few purchases! 

I LOVE lipsticks! I love bright red and semi nude lips the best on me, so when I saw these Rimmel London ones I just had to get a couple.

Another Rimmel product I picked up was the Stay Matte Face Powder. I've heard such good reviews about it.

I do wear Mascara on a regular basis so I decided to pick up another one since you are supposed to change them every 6 months. I also really want to try liquid liner over my pencil so I picked up one of those as well.

The last few things are for eyes. I needed new eye shadow; however, I don't wear anything too flashy so I went for a nude pallet. My pallet looks so dirty already but I used it as soon as I got home. I love the pigmentation of the shadows. I also threw in a couple brushes that I needed as well.

My Jewelry Storage/ Organization

Organization!

One of my favorite words!!! I love to organize, rearrange, whatever you like calling it! I just love changing things up, making things look nice, and making things easily accessible!

My jewelry collection is pretty big I think. I have a large collection of necklaces. Personally I don’t like wearing bracelets or rings. I do have a few of them just not a fan of actually wearing them.

Having said that, I have perfected my personal storage methods. I have my jewelry stored in old containers, new containers, and some trays that I made. I hope that this inspires you to maybe try storing your jewelry in different containers that you haven’t thought of in the past. Or maybe even making your own!

Most of my necklaces are in an old thread storage container. My grandmom used to keep her jewelry thrown in this and I have since taken it into my possession. I’m pretty sure this box dates from the 1920’s but it could be a newer production of the original. This box has traveled to NYC and back quite a few times and it’s still in great shape; though a bit dirty looking.

Sitting on top of my thread case are a bunch of brown boxes which are holding more necklaces. I am using old Birchboxes as jewelry trays. I couldn’t bare to throw away these cute boxes and I’m glad I did not because I am now getting great use from them.

Lastly, I have a very shallow drawer that I bought drawer trays for from the Container Store. I have some necklaces, bracelets, rings, and special items (like my real Pearls) stored in this drawer.

Media Monday- What is a Fashion Stylist?

Since deciding what I wanted to go to college for I’ve been asked the same questions…

• What do you do with a Fashion Merchandising/Management degree?
• What is a Stylist?
• Why do you want to do that with your life?

For those of you who don’t know, I currently attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am getting a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management. I plan on using what I’ve learned to start my own Fashion Styling business. I want to dress women, men, children, pretty much whoever will let me dress them I will!

A Fashion Stylist in simplest terms is someone who dresses a person for an event, work, or just everyday life. Stylists pick the clothing and accessories, sometimes even hair and makeup, that a person will wear to form a cohesive look. Being a stylist can’t necessarily be taught. Of course there are tips and tricks that are learned from the industry and runway shows but primarily being a stylist is based on if you have an eye for fashion. If you the stylist has the ability to see a look that most others would not see. Whether this is mixing patterns or colors, you have to be able to see what others don’t.

I love watching other stylists' videos to see what ideas they have and sometimes that can inspire me to try something that I was not 100% sure about before.

Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear

As some of you may know, Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear has just finished showing across the globe. I have been debating on whether I want to stick to showing Industry season or if I should stick to true season. Industry is always showing the next season, for instance we are in fall 2014 but they just “came out” with Spring 2015.

I'm late to the scene with this song but I just started listening to Cheryl Cole's Crazy Stupid Love. I listen to it everyday now on repeat! It's just got the perfect beat to dance to. I love that you can actually hear all the different instruments in it!
